Employee leave polices must be in line with applicable laws

The Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) sets specific requirements for employees who need to take time off of work to deal with a serious medical issue or specific family events. If your employees come to you with an FMLA request, you must ensure that you handle the situation appropriately so that you don't face any litigation because of those actions.

We understand that this is a complex law, but we are here to work with you to ensure that your policies are set in a proactive manner. We can also help you address any FMLA-related litigation quickly.

It is easy to become focused on the changes you will have to make to your business when you have a trusted employee who needs time off work. A better approach to this situation might be to remember that an employee is in ill health or who has serious personal issues going on might not be able to give their all to work. It might be in your best interests to give them the time off they need so that you aren't paying an employee who is only working at partial capacity.

We know that you do count on your employees but when they have something serious going on, it is best to put them first. The FMLA leave is unpaid, so most employees will only ask for this leave if they truly need it. If something does happen, and you are faced with litigation because of an issue with this, we can help you fight back against the matter.
