Matthew J. DeMaio is an associate attorney at Hardin Thompson, P.C. Mr. DeMaio received his Juris Doctor from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law and his Bachelor of Science one semester early from Saint Vincent College in International Business with a minor in Finance.
While in law school, Mr. DeMaio was Class President for two years, Managing Editor of the Pittsburgh Tax Review Journal, a moot court finalist, and the Student Representative on the Faculty Appointments Committee. Mr. DeMaio was awarded the Pro Bono Service Leadership Award for service to the community in excess of 100 hours and the Certificate of Advanced Study in International and Comparative Law. Mr. DeMaio was also among the recipients of the 2019 Mark A. Nordenberg Fellowship, awarded for international internships, which he used to work in European competition and corporate law with CMS in Zagreb, Croatia. While awaiting bar exam results, Mr. DeMaio served as a Fellow with Neighborhood Legal Services, where he defended indigent tenants from COVID-19 related eviction.
Prior to joining Hardin Thompson, P.C., Mr. DeMaio was an attorney at a defense firm representing large insurance carriers and their insureds in various UM/UIM, motor vehicle and premises liability, and insurance coverage actions.
In 2022, Mr. DeMaio graduated from the Allegheny County Bar Association's Bar Leadership Initiative and was elected to the Young Lawyer's Division Council. He is currently serving a two-year term representing Allegheny County lawyers who have been in practice for less than ten years.
Mr. DeMaio is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and is an active member of the Hay-Sell American Inns of Court, the Allegheny County Bar Association, and the Saint Vincent Law Society.
